Christ Church Uniting, 1300 Kailua Road. A candlelight Taize service at 7 p.m. today will include chanting of songs from the ecumenical French Taize community and silent meditation.
John 17:21 Ministry, 497-1415. Anthony Akamine will preach on "The Hero Within" at the 4 p.m. service tomorrow at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1350 Hunakai St. Dinner will follow.
Moiliili Hongwanji Mission, 902 University Ave., 949-1659. The birthday of Shinran Shonin will be celebrated at services May 18. The Rev. Shindo Nishiyama will be guest speaker at the 9 a.m. English service and 10:30 a.m. Japanese-language service.
Pacific Buddhist Academy. A baccalaureate ceremony for the class of 2008 will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin, 1727 Pali Highway. Bishop Thomas Okano will officiate at the service, which will recognize 14 seniors for their engagement in Buddha's teachings during their studies.

University of Hawaii Outreach College, 956-8400. A six-week series of workshops on "Meditation for Mindfulness" based on the Theravada Buddhist tradition will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at UH Physical Education Complex 245, Studio 3.
