What ever happened to the water park lagoon proposed to be built next to the Hilton Hawaiian Village? Hilton to start
lagoon work soonThe construction of the proposed aquatic park at Kahanamoku Lagoon is scheduled to begin as soon as September and be completed by Christmas of next year, said Tom Laidlaw, vice president of EnterOcean Group.
"All federal, city and state permits have been fully approved by the government authorities," he said. "We're looking to start the process of cleaning the lagoon in September, October this year."
The water park, a project by Hilton and EnterOcean Group, will hold a reinforced concrete tank with an underwater network of shallow channels designed to resemble natural reefs, inlets and lagoons within the tank. Marine animals would be placed inside to simulate a diving experience with a backdrop of plants and rocks.
According to hotel officials, the project is estimated to cost between $20 million and $24 million.
