A tribute to Rell and Iz

The Makaha community will gather July 11 to celebrate the lives of musician Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and surfer/activist Rell Sunn.

Dedication ceremonies honoring the two will be held during the Makaha Ho'olaule'a at 'Ohikilolo Ranch, Makua. The public is invited to bring leis or gifts.

The 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. event will feature music, hula, educational displays and exhibits of arts, crafts and Hawaiian culture.

Entertainment includes the Waianae High School Haka Club, Vihi, One Heart, Ilona Irvine, Kulia, Opihi Pickers, Tenderoni, Evolutionary Dance Troop, Simplicity, Brother Norm Thompson, Mel Amina and Ana, Kawika Kahiapo and other special guests.

Shore to perform in Honolulu

Comedian Pauly Shore will be the featured act at "A Night of Total Entertainment II" 7:30 p.m. July 11 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. He will be joined by an as yet unnamed guest.
