Star-BulletinFour members of repeat state champion Punahou and three members of the Kalaheo team that won 27 straight games this year will play tomorrow in the fifth Mufi Hannemann Jamboree at Iolani School.
The jamboree, which includes teams representing the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, the Oahu Interscholastic Association, the neighbor islands' prep leagues, and the University of Hawaii Wahine alumnae will get under way with keiki games at 8 a.m., followed by adult games at 10 a.m.
Onaona Miller, the only returning all-state player from the 1997 Buffanblu state champions, heads the ILH squad to be coached by 1997 coach of the year Shelley Kahuanui Fey of Punahou.
Punahou teammates joining the 5-foot-11 Miller, who will play next season for Yale University, are 5-3 senior guard Candice Usita, 5-5 freshman guard Milia Macfarlane, and 5-9 senior forward Gayna Nakajo.
The Mustangs lead the OIA lineup with their top scorer, 5-10 senior forward Kim Taylor, 6-0 freshman forward Brandy Richardson and 5-5 senior guard Steph Redman.
The OIA team will be coached by Stacy Ni'i and Nadine Villarmia of Waipahu.
Lahainaluna's Aina Kohler, the only local player signed this school year by UH, will lead the neighbor islands' contingent.
Joining her will be five other participants in the recent state tournament, including teammate Lisa Arcangel.
Graduating Wahine Nani Cockett will headline the UH Alumnae team. The 6-0 Cockett who played four years for the Wahine, also played on four straight state championship Kamehameha teams between 1990 and 1993.
Her teammates will include Nani Flores, Jenny Kaeo and Mel Azama.
Two-time UCLA All-American Dora Dome will headline a mixed plate team called the Hawaii All-Stars. That roster will also carry University of San Francisco alumna Lisa Baptista and UH alumna Sue Erickson.
The ILH/Neighbor Island All-Stars will face the OIA/Neighbor Island All-stars at 10 a.m., and the UH Alumni will play the Hawaii All-Stars (also an alumnae team) at 11:30 a.m. The winners will face each other at 2 p.m.
In the keiki under 12 age division, the Kalakaua Basketball Clinic will take on the Kalanianaole Athletic Club at 8 a.m. In the 14-and-under division, Windward Oahu meets St. Patrick's at 9 a.m.
Aiea Middle School will face Manoa at 1 p.m., and Kalakaua Basketball Clinic will play the Public Middle School All-Stars at 3:30 p.m.
No admission will be charged. Instead donations may be made to benefit the Gender Equity Sports Club.
