Reggae returns to the Shell

"Jam at the Shell" returns to the Waikiki Shell 5 p.m. June 27 with Grammy Award-winning Shaggy and his band, featuring Rayvon, and the Born Jamericans.

Tickets -- on sale Saturday at the Blaisdell and Connection outlets --are $18.50 grass seating advance ($20 at the gate), $20 second terrace, $22.50 first terrace and $25 pool seating. Call 545-4000.

Shaggy's double platinum album, "Boombastic," won the 1996 Grammy for best reggae album. Shaggy's current "Midnite Lover" includes "My Dream" and a remake of the classic "Piece of my Heart."

Meanwhile, Born Jamericans serve a harder slice of hip hop as heard on the album "Yardcore."

The acts also head to Maui June 28 for the Maui Summer Jam at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The Maui show will start at 3 p.m. Tickets are $18.50 through June 15; $22 through the 27th. Tickets the day of the show will be $26. Call 242-SHOW (7469) on Maui, or charge tickets at (800) 333-3388.
