I frequently pick up my granddaughter at Waialae Elementary School on 19th Avenue. Since I am disabled, I do so in the school parking lot, where there are two spaces provided for disabled persons. But these spaces are being used by teachers without the required permit on display. Whom do I notify to have this violation corrected?
You should call Principal Susan Minami, 733-4880. She says she knows teachers are NOT parking in those stalls. If you notify the school when you see an unauthorized car in the stalls, or provide license numbers, she can follow up on your complaint.
Whom can we call to have someone remove his plants from a city sidewalk?
Call the city Building Department at 527-6308.
An inspector can assess the situation and take action, if it is public property.

To two ladies who comforted us during a most traumatic experience. On Saturday night, March 28, I was driving on Farrington Highway with my good friend, Renee Lewis. In front of Maili Beach Park, we were struck head-on by a young man traveling in the opposite direction.
I remember hearing the loud bang and feeling a tremendous amount of pain. I was covered in blood; my car was "totaled." Renee had a huge gash on her head and blood was pouring out of her wounds and mouth.
She was unconscious. By this time, a group of people had gathered to help and direct traffic.
What followed next, between the ambulance and the helicopter, is very hazy. But I remember vividly two local ladies. One held Renee's hand and the other held mine, telling me that I'd be OK and so would Renee. She helped calm me when I felt very alone, dazed and scared. Both women wiped the blood from us and tried to stabilize our wounds.
They told us to hang on until help arrived. I honestly believe that without their help, support and love, we never would have made it. Today, I am out of the hospital and on the slow road to recovery. It will take a lot of time to physically heal and much therapy for both of us. I never got to see or thank the two ladies and hope that they see this in Kokua Line. I say thank you with all my heart. -- Tiffany Rabb
To police in Manoa who waited one day to give Punahou students parking tickets at 8:28 a.m., when parking opens at 8:30 a.m. What do two minutes matter? To students, it means getting to class on time because there is nowhere else to park. Auwe
How were those five officers doing their job of protecting and serving? The only thing that will change is that a bunch of students will be late to school. Who benefits from that?
To Stephanie Higa of Stadium Sack 'N' Save for turning in my diamond wedding ring, which I carelessly dropped in the store. Mahalo
To people leaving cars on Likini Street for so long they are affecting the flow of traffic. Cars have to be moved every 24 hours or they are considered abandoned. Cars that are always parked on the road should pay higher registration fees! Auwe
