Musashimaru,Akebono Lose

Ozeki (champion) Musashimaru suffered his first defeat today and yokozuna (grand champion) Akebono was beaten for the second time in the 15-day New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.

Six wrestlers are now tied for first place with four victories and one defeat - Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani from Hawaii; his fellow ozeki, Takanonami; yokozuna Takanohana; sekiwake (junior champion) Tochiazuma; No. 13 maegashira (senior wrestler) Wakanojo, and newly promoted No. 15 maegashira Kyokutenho from Mongolia.

Kotonishiki held off Musashimaru's pushes at the ring's edge and tossed him down.

Tochinonada pushed Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, to the ring's edge and twisted him down, leaving the grand champion at 3-2.

No. 14 maegashira Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, also is at 3-2 after pushing out Asanosho.
