Chamberlain in HPR benefit

Actor Richard Chamberlain makes a rare public appearance in a benefit premiere for Hawaii Public Radio with his new film, "River Made to Drown In," at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Cinerama Theatre.

The event includes a champagne reception with Chamberlain at China House Restaurant, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd. Tickets are $30 for one ticket and reception; $50 for two tickets and reception; or $15 for the movie only.

Santa parades in Wahiawa

Wahiawa parties tomorrow with the 1997 Country Christmas Parade and a post-parade concert by the Pacific Fleet Band's "Task Force Pacific" contemporary music group.

Parade participants include Santa and his reindeer, the Royal Hawaiian Band and four other marching bands, several pageant winners, the Girl Scouts, in-line skaters, a jump rope club and classic auto clubs.

The parade begins at 7 p.m., heading down California Avenue from Kaala Elementary School to Wahiawa Town Center, where the concert starts at 8 p.m.
