Bennett's back in town

Tony Bennett returns to Hawaii for two concerts next month including a gala New Year's Eve celebration at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Bennett also will perform on the Big Island Dec. 29 at the Hilton Waikoloa. Ticket prices have not yet been announced though they are expected to go on sale soon.

A success for nearly half a century, Bennett became a hit with bobbysoxers with a series of hits like "Because of You," "Cold, Cold Heart" and "Rags to Riches," all of which went to No. 1 on the pop singles charts. In 1962 he released what would become his trademark song, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

In 1995, he capped his long-lived career with a Grammy for best pop vocal album for MTV Unplugged, evidence of his resurgence in popularity among young people.
