An eye for development

Howard Murai joins Finance Realty to help with the company's search for development opportunities.

"I'll be involved in a variety of real estate projects," Murai said. "It runs the gamut from commercial to residential."

Finance Realty owns property statewide. Murai's job involves looking at property for possible acquisition and development.

For the past nine years, Murai has been vice president and project manager for Herbert K. Horita Realty Inc. He managed Horita's projects on Maui from 1990 to 1996.

He has been involved in real estate since 1984 when he was a project officer for the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Housing and Community Development. Murai also was a branch/facility administrator for the state Department of Social Services & Housing, corrections division.

He has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
