
Thursday, November 13, 1997Robert Fick hit a grand slam, A.J. Pierzinski drove in four more runs with a double and two singles and three Honolulu pitchers struck out 17 West Oahu batters as the Sharks pummeled the CaneFires, 12-2, last night at Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu. Sharks pound CaneFires
Pierzinski's two-run double keyed a six-run fifth-inning flurry for the Sharks. Fick, who also had three hits, homered with the bases loaded in the eighth.
Brian Cooper evened his pitching record at 2-2, holding the CaneFires to one run and four hits over five innings and fanning nine. Tom LaRosa and Yusaku Iriki each struck out four in two innings to complete the five-hitter.
Stingrays 9, Stars 1: At Wailuku's Iron Maehara Stadium, Randy Winn, Brian Richardson and Roberto Colina accounted for eight of Maui's 13 hits and seven RBIs as the Stingrays ran their winning streak to five games.
Winn had three hits and three RBIs, Richardson three hits and one RBI and Colina two hits and three RBIs.
