Chamblee HR
lifts CaneFires

Jim Chamblee's two-out, solo home run in the seventh inning proved to be the game winner as the West Oahu CaneFires edged Hilo, 5-4, for their seventh consecutive Hawaii Winter Baseball victory before 989 fans at Hans L'Orange Park yesterday.

Fletcher Bates had an RBI double in the first inning and a two-run homer in the fifth for the CaneFires.

Closer Joe Lisio got the final two outs with the tying run on second base to preserve the victory for Jayson Durocher.

Bo Porter hit a two-run homer for the Stars in the second

Stingrays 3, Sharks 2: At Wailuku, Brian Richardson singled home Randy Winn with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Maui swept the three-game series with Honolulu.

Winn started the inning with a double down the left-field line, his third hit of the game.

Carlos Casimiro's two-run double in the eighth tied the score for the Stingrays. The Sharks had led since the first inning when Damon Minor and Gabe Kapler each drove in a run.
