Health and happiness go hand in hand

Former Canadian Davis Cup member and 27-year Hawaii resident Peter Burwash has just published "Total Health, The Next Level A Simple Guide for Taking Control of Your Health and Happiness Now!" (Torchlight, 1997, $11.95).

He will give a nutrition and fitness seminar 7 p.m. today at Ala Moana Hotel ballroom. Tickets are $10. Call 944-8344.

"I try to demystify everything, take all complicated medical terms and simplify them," he says about the 134-page paperback with sections ranging from "Diseases of the affluent" to "How to begin and stick with your exercise program."

His bottom-line philosophy is, "What heals our bodies is the art of giving." To affirm this, he has volunteered more than 100 hours over two years to the University of Hawaii Wahine volleyball team.

"I advise them in nutrition, motivation, public speaking, body language, handling celebrity status, relationships with coaches and fellow players, and how to handle pressure when it comes down to the crunch," he says.
