The University of Hawaii women's volleyball team Friday night found the ultimate cure for its 12-day ailment: aloha ball. The Special Events Arena crowd rose to cheer -- not clear out -- for the final point for the first time since Sept. 6 and was not disappointed. Cia delivers the Goods as Wahine
beat Loyola MarymountSenior Cia Goods hammered down her 18th kill to lift No. 18 Hawaii to a 15-11, 9-15, 15-4, 15-9 victory over No. 16 Loyola Marymount, ending the Wahine's three-game skid. It was the first time in four tries Hawaii (8-3) had defeated a ranked team, and also the first time in the last three matches the Wahine had won after splitting the first two games.
"It was good to see everyone standing up for the last point instead of there being silence," said Goods, who had just one hitting error in 33 swings and was in on 11 blocks.
It took 2 hours and 7 minutes to quiet the Lions Friday night. It probably won't be enough just yet to quiet the critics, one of whom demanded a refund for his season tickets last week.
