UH basketball season
ticket renewals due

Today is the deadline for the approximately 5,000 1996-97 University of Hawaii men's basketball season ticket holders to renew their exact seats for the upcoming season before the seats are released for sale to the general public.

Public sale of season tickets starts Sept. 29 and runs through Oct. 24.

Individual game ticket sales (not including the Rainbow Classic package) start Nov. 17.

Rainbow Classic package sales begin Dec. 15.

SKATEBOARD CONTEST: The Association of Skateboarders in Hawaii will hold contest No. 4 tomorrow at the Ewa Beach Skate Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 263-0808 or 263-5603.

PAC WEST COMPLETE: The final piece of the puzzle was put in place yesterday as Humboldt State (Arcata, Calif.) accepted an invitation to join the Pacific West Conference bringing the membership to 16 schools.

Earlier this month, Brigham Young University-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific University joined the conference, which already included Chaminade University and the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

CHEER TEAM GOLF: The Kamehameha Schools Varsity Cheer Team is sponsoring its first golf tournament Oct. 13 at the New Ewa Golf Club.

The format is two-man teams or a four-man scramble. Golfers can form their own teams by submitting payment with their entry forms.

The entry fee is $110 per person and the deadline is Monday.

BOXING NEEDS: Hawaii U.S.A. Amateur Boxing is seeking volunteer timekeepers, judges, referees and ringside officials.

Experience is not necessary. Training and workshops will be provided. Doctors also are needed for ringside.

HAWAII PARTICIPANTS: Two Hawaii residents are competing in the Women's Professional Volleyball Association Best of the Beach IV tournament at Lihue's Nawiliwili Park Sept. 28 through Sept. 28.

Karrie Poppinga (Mililani) is seeded fourth with Angela Rock and Danalee Bragado (Honolulu), who is seeded 10th with Ali Wood.

Two pools of four teams each start play Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. The top four-seeded teams join bracket play Sept. 27 with the top-two pool teams with play again starting at 10 a.m.

The final day's actions begins at 9 a.m. with semifinals at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Third place will be decided at 2 p.m. with the championship match set for 3 p.m.

McGRUFF RUN: The 11th annual McGruff Fun Run is Oct. 12 at Kapiolani Park. The 8K run starts at 6:30 a.m.; the 3K event at 7:30.

Register by Sept. 30 to guarantee a McGruff Fun Run T-shirt. The fee is $16 for participants over 12 and $14 for children under 12.

SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Chaminade University Alumni Association's Sister Roberta Julie Derby Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Kaneohe Klipper Course.

The entry fees are $100 per person and $330 per team.
