The trend toward managed care and health maintenance organizations is in keeping with a long tradition of Adventist hospitals. "Hawaii is very far along the way with managed care and we are very in tune with that," Curry said.
She came to the Kailua medical center this summer from California where she was director of audit services for Adventist Health, a not-for-profit health corporation based in Roseville.
Curry lived in Hawaii for three years in the 1980s, and her mother was a nurse at Castle Medical Center. Curry earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Pacific Union College in Napa Valley, Calif.
Castle Medical Center is one of 18 hospitals in the Adventist Health system.
