Out of the attic,
onto the runway

All those historic homes that the Historic Hawaii Foundation is trying to save have closets. Some of them, really big closets. So it's kind of fitting that a fund-raising event for the organization features historic clothing.

"200 Years of Hawaii" is a fashion show featuring authentic and renovated gowns and accessories worn by famous Hawaiian women, from Queen Ka'ahumanu to Queen Liliu'okalani. It runs 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Walker Estate and Gardens, 2616 Pali Highway.

The collection was put together by the late fashion historian and designer Richard Goodwin. His dresses will be modeled by a variety of Miss Hawaiis. The afternoon includes tea and garden tours.

Admission is $25. Information and reservations, call 523-2900.

An oldies celebration

The Drifters, the Chiffons and Tommy Roe headline "The Summer Blast," a dance party and concert tomorrow night at the Sheraton Waikiki Hawaii Ballroom.

The oldies rock 'n' roll show also features Johnny Tillotson, as well as singer Frankie Ford. There will be two floors for dancing.

Showtimes are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $22.50 and $30 at Connection outlets, the Blaisdell box office or by phone at 545-4000.

Magical moments

Magician Franz Harary tomorrow opens a series of six performances, benefiting Shriners Hospital, at Blaisdell Concert Hall. The Gamesters, a comedy-illusion duo, also will perform.

Tickets are $10 to $35, available at the Blaisdell box office and Connection outlets or by phone at 545-4000.

Halau Na Kamalei performs

Kumu hula Robert Cazimero's Halau Na Kamalei holds a fund-raising concert Sunday at the Hawaii Theatre.

Special guests of the halau are Loretta Ables, Roland Cazimero, the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu and some surprise performers.
