"World of Whales": Pearlridge Center Dinamation exhibit with "Under the Sea Treasure Hunt Map"; "Whale of Fun Weekends" with face painters, balloon artists and performances; and replicas of whales, a squid and dolphins, through Sept. 14. CONTESTS

Under the sea: Children ages 2-14 can win "Ocean Planet" prizes by drawing an underwater ocean scene. Contest forms available at 7-Eleven stores and must be returned to Bishop Museum by Aug. 31. For information, call 848-4187.

Spelling bee: Children entering grades 4 through 8 are welcomed to register for the Hawaiian Spelling Bee being held 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 27, Ward Warehouse Amphitheater. Contestants will be required to spell and define Hawaiian words. Winner will receive a computer for his or her class and a class party. Registration forms available at 545-1771 (Oahu) or 1-800-852-7690 (outer islands).



CONTINUING

Tropical plant nature walk: 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Free. Call 233-7323 for reservations.
