Art exhibit calls for entries
Star-Bulletin staffThe Honoluu Japanese Chamber of Commerce's annual Art Exhibition, called "Commitment to Excellence" runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 to 19 in the Amfac Plaza Gallery in Amfac Towers downtown. Entries for the juried portion of the exhibition will be accepted 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Amfac Gallery. Cash awards will be given in both two- and three-dimensional categories in the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Sept. 8. An additional award of $100 from Yomiuri America. Inc., will be given to the "most outstanding newcomer."
The show will also features the works of invited artists, including Satoru Abe, Reiko Brandon, Sean Browne, Dorothy Faison, Robert Hamada, John Koga, Rick Mills, Hiroki Morinoue, John Morita, Marcia Morse, Fred Roster, Mamoru Sato, Tadashi Sato, Esther Shimazu, Toshiko Takaezu, Michael Tom, Stanley Tomita, Doug Young and Tseng Yuho.
The prospectus is available from Hawaiian Graphics, Honolulu Academy of Arts' Linekona School, the University of Hawaii Art Department, Kapiolani and Windward Community College Art Departments, Hawaii Pacific University Art Gallery and the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
