Since mid-July, KITV (Channel 12 in Kona, where I live) apparently has been off the air. I use rabbit ears because I don't have cable. The other stations comes in about as usual. Do you have any explanation? KITVs Maui transmitter
blew up; being replacedThe station's transmitter on Haleakala on Maui "blew up" in July, said KITV General Manager Mike Rosenberg. "We were off the air completely for four or five days."
It was temporarily replaced with a low-power transmitter, transmitting at one-fifth of normal power, which "gives television reception to just about everybody who was getting us off the air on Maui," he said.
Unfortunately for you, there are "certain pockets" on the Kona Coast "that might not be getting a broadcast-quality signal." That will remain so until sometime in September, when a new transmitter, currently being built, is installed, Rosenberg said.
"It was a critical failure in some part of the transmitter which we couldn't replace," he said.
