HOLO holo Carr: That would be Mike Carr, president of Polynesian Adventure Tours, who celebrated two decades of shuffling tourists by bus around Hawaii. He hosted a huge mahalo party for tour drivers and dispatchers, travel agents and tour attraction operators. And who better to guide everyone down memory lane? Let George do it. That would be founder Bob George, founder of the company back in 1977 with just three employees and four mini vans. Today the company has 300 employees and a fleet of 110 motor coaches, vans and mini coaches offering tours on four islands. Entertaining at the mahalo party was "Portagee" comic Frank DeLima, who took the partygoers on a hilarious comedic tour of his own ... Polynesian Tours

WE'LL call this episode "Beverly Hills 96815." The entire cast of the Fox Network hit has been filming on Oahu for the past week in an episode revolving around Tori Spelling's character, who is sent to Hawaii to aid in a photo shoot. Jason Priestly and the entire cast have been here, and they're wrapping up filming today in Waikiki ...

While I haven't read "Salishan Summer," I told Charley it was the greatest title since "The Scrimshaw Rejection" or whatever that film was called. In any case, it's made it to the quarterfinals in the Nicholl Fellowships, sponsored by the Academy Foundation, a group of Hollywood heavyweights including Lew Wasserman, Arthur Hiller and the guy who most impressed Memminger, Roddy McDowell. Only 216 out of 4,006 who entered screenplays made the first cut ...
BEING one of the most highly regarded restaurateurs in the islands, Beverly Gannon of the Hali'imaile General Store is accustomed to high praise. But it's somehow sweeter when it comes from a fellow restaurateur, and the other night she got "about the best -- and most unusual -- compliment." Nicky Blair, whose Hollywood eatery has long been a hip hangout for the showbiz crowd and discriminating diners alike, stopped by for dinner. He was with a pal, Michael Klein, whose dad, Gene Klein, was once owner of the San Diego Chargers. Blair quipped on leaving, "I don't think I'm going to brush my teeth tonight. I want those flavors to stay in my mouth as long as possible." Uh, thanks ... Palate project

SOCCER maven Jack Sullivan never thought he'd see the day he'd consider giving up coaching soccer. But then his daughter, Colleen, gave birth to his first grandchild, Brendan, and the kid weighed in at 9 pounds, 11 ounces. Sullivan immediately ran out and bought a book called "Coaching Sumo." Daddy Derek Vroom sent same-day pictures of hours-old baby Brendan out over the kid's own Internet web page -- like, Vroom! A different sort of cyberbabe ... Sumo tyke
