The menu for the event includes an array of edibles ranging from tuna croquettes and grape leaf shrimp to beef tenderloin with demi glaze and cedar plank-roasted salmon, complete with wine, champagne and an open bar.
Reservations are $50 per person and are available by calling the theater box office at 528-0506, or by sending a check payable to the Hawaii Theatre or Palomino Opening. Mail the check to the Hawaii Theatre, 1130 Bethel St., Honolulu, HI 96813. All proceeds benefit the theater.
Palomino will open to the public for dinner on Aug. 18. Lunch will be offered starting Aug. 20.
Monday, July 28, 1997 The Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage, for the 19th time, presents its annual "Festa," this year occuring 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Festa time
The event includes Portuguese dishes such as bean soup, pao doce and malassadas; Portuguese crafts and exhibits, and entertainment. Among those providing the latter is comedian Frank De Lima. In addition, there will be an exhibition of classic cars.

The Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage will present a weekend camp Aug. 8 to 11, allowing 30 island children to explore their Portuguese ancestry. What it means to be Portuguese
Activities will include historical story-telling, skits and "trivia hunts."
The campers will learn about Portuguese culture, history, exploration and immigration to Hawaii. They will also have a chance to experiment with arts and crafts from Portugal.
Comedian Frank De Lima will make a special appearance and chef John Peru will prepare the campers' food. A Saturday-festa will feature music, dance and Hawaii's own Camoes Dancers.

Put on your sport shoes and head out to Kolekole Pass on the Waianae Coast, the site of the 15th Annual Kolekole Pass Half Marathon and 6-Mile Walk on August 9. The marathon begins at 6 a.m. at Schofield Barracks' Watt Field, the downhill walk at 7:30 a.m.
The event offers a rare opportunity to view the scenic beauty of the military area, which is usually closed to the public. Besides a large helping of physical activity, walkers can hear myths and legends told by kupuna Cookie Camera.
The run/walk is a benefit for the American Cancer Society.
Entry fee is $18 through Aug. 3, $25 from Aug. 4-8 and $30 on the day of the event. Forms are available through the cancer society, 98-029 Hekaha Street No. 6 in Aiea, or at local running stores.
Entrants are encouraged to seek sponsors, whose contributions are tax-deductible. The group with the largest contributions receives an Aloha Airlines neighbor-island trip for four.

The Allegro Concert Orchestra performs a diverse concert celebrating French music of all genres, including opera, folk and popular melodies Aug. 2 at Orvis Auditorium as part of the University of Hawaii Summer Session. Orchestra performs music of France
The concert will feature violinist Darel Stark from the Honolulu Symphony and soprano Georgine Duncan from the Hawaii Opera outreach program and Punahou School.
This evening will showcase the work of Camille, Saint-Saens, Jules Massenet, Charles Gounod, Oliver Messiaen, Faure, Gossec, Couperin, Bizet and Debussy.
Directed by Juan DeVilbiss and conducted by Robert Wehrman, the Allegro Concert Orchestra is a local group dedicated to the chamber repertoire.
