THE old line about the Blue Zebra nightspot in Restaurant Row was that it was named for all the blue uniforms that seemed to show up there nightly to break up fights. As in HPD'ers. Perhaps unfair, but there did seem to be a big police presence at the establishment. That's not likely to be the case when Mystique, a completely new and different club opens in the same spot next month. For one thing, the owners have hired Kymberlee Weil (see her in the August Playboy) as promotions manager. The club name sounds well chosen since, according to Weil, it will be "cutting edge, Euro-style." Amenities will include cigar bar, martini room and VIP "Leopard Lounge" (with faux chinchilla booths) featuring quiet jazz -- a nice place to converse and be heard. Then in the main room, a D.J. will play "techno music" for dancing. And, they trust, there'll be no need for cops ... Mystique exec

THEY'RE trying to keep it as much a secret as the formula for Classic Coke, but the Pepsi Cola people have slated a huge party at the Hyatt Waikoloa on Jan. 22 next year and the word is bubbling up that the Rolling Stones will be the big attraction. As with the group's projected show at Aloha Stadium, presumably a day or two (or possibly both?) before that show, the ink has yet to hit the contract. But nobody should be surprised when it does. As for a possible second Stones show at Aloha Stadium, that's premature speculation. You may recall that a final decision to hold a second Michael Jackson concert wasn't made until later ...
WITH some 80 people all puffing on Davidoff Grand Crus, a Churchillian-sized, premium cigar, you might expect to be in a haze as well as a daze. Not so at the Havana Cigar Club in Nauru Tower. Club president Steve Sasaki was expecting about half that many people to show up for a swank cigar smoker and wine tasting last week, but was more than pleased when his new air-filtration system worked so well that the room was relatively smoke free. The system, similar to the ones on Navy submarines, filters and cleans the air in the club every 3-1/2 minutes. The Havana Pacific is one of the first cigar clubs in the country to install such a system ... What smoke filled room?
