Seafood stars
at Hawaii Prince

Chefs gather to conduct cooking demonstrations, and show different ways of cleaning and cutting seafood, noon-5 p.m. Saturday, Hawaii Prince Hotel.

There will be food and game booths for the keiki and a "fish impersonation" contest open to everyone, prizes include a trip to Maui.

Participating chefs include Gary Strehl, Hawaii Prince; Corey Waite, Mauna Kea Resort; Goran Streng, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel; Greg Gaspar, Maui Prince Hotel; Barbara Stange-Wong and Steven Ariel, Alan Wong's; and Russ Murakami, A Pacific Cafe.

Admission is free. Proceeds go to Kapiolani Community College's Food Service Culinary Arts Department.

Four-ounce samples: Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch and Crab adds fresh brews to its menu beginning Friday. For $4.50, beer connoisseurs can enjoy five samples of beer with their meals. Dave Campbell and Sam Choy have created "Bumbucha Stout," a black and chewy ale with a cappuccino-like finish; "Ehu Ale," made from British caramel and roasted malts; "Kaka'ako Cream Ale," the delicate one of the bunch; "S-Team Lager," a rich amber color with a full body; and "Hono-Weizen," an unfiltered wheat ale with hints of bananas and cloves.

Summer fun: Start your weekends with microbrewery beers at Sunset Grill's "Pau Hana Party," 3-6 p.m. every Friday, through summer.

Also, before returning to the weekly grind, enjoy all-you-can-eat barbecued ribs with Tuscan mashed potatoes and grilled seasonal vegetables for $10 per person, every Sunday, through summer.

Cooking with Newman: Earn up to $50,000 for your favorite charity in the 7th Annual Newman's Own and Good Housekeeping Recipe Contest. Create an appetizer, main dish or dessert using any Newman's Own products and you could win an expense-paid trip to the final judging in New York City, where you will dine with Paul Newman, receive a two-night hotel stay, and $1,000 to cover miscellaneous expenses.

Seven finalists will win $10,000 each for their charities and 14 runner-ups will earn $5,000.

Participants must be U.S. residents and at least 18-years-old. Recipes will also be accepted from organized groups or school class or youth organizations .
