Contests

International Library of Famous Poets is sponsoring a free poetry competition. Grand prize is $1,000. Poems must be 21 lines or less and sent to: Free Poetry Competition, 421 N. Rodeo Drive, Suite 15-544, Beverly Hills, Calif., 90210. Only one poem per person. Deadline: July 30. Poems will not be returned. Winners will be notified by the end of October.

Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum is accepting all types of poems for their "Awards of Poetic Excellence" contest. One poem, 20 lines or less, per person. Poems entered will be considered for the Spring 1988 edition of "Poetic Voices of America." Grand prize is $1,000. Deadline: July 31. Pacific Islanders in Communication is looking for a published, fictional work by an indigenous Pacific Islander writer for adaptation to the screen. Works must be relevant to Pacific cultures, and have been published as a book or short story in a magazine or literary journal or have been produced as a stage play. PIC must have option rights.
