Best practical joke
contest bows in ’98

What ever happened to the contest sponsored by Don Over for the best practical joke of the year?

After Don Over, local publisher, developer and jokester, died in 1995, the Star-Bulletin published a column about a trust Over left to finance a yearly joke contest.

After two years of liquidating Over’s assets and organizing the estate, attorney Jim Starshak said the joke committee is on track and will be ready to kick off the competition on April 1, 1998.

Details, including rules and amount of the award, will be announced later, Starshak said.
