Watch Hong Kong
make its change

Next week one of the most unapologetic capitalist areas in the world, Hong Kong, returns to the biggest communist country in the world, China.

Hong Kong already has one of the most vibrant Internet communities anywhere, so how it handles the transition to the rigidly controlled Chinese Internet will be a fascinating challenge.

You can follow along with the latest news about China at http://freenet.buffalo.edu/~cb863/china.html, which is a thoughtful collection of sources of political, social, and economic news about China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Tibet.

Also check the CNN site for its daily wrapup of events in Hong Kong at http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/9706/hk97/.

Another great set of links to all the coverage of Hong Kong is the aptly named Hong Kong Transition Project at http://www.hkbu.edu.hk/~hktp/.

For local coverage, you will want to read the Star-Bulletin's own Susan Kreifels, reporting from Hong Kong at http://star-bulletin.com/specials/hongkong.html.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
