"Taro Patch Twist" dance contest: 7 p.m. June 13, Pearlridge Center's Downtown stage; and 7 p.m. June 19, Aloha Tower Pier bar. Finals will be held in July. Run for the rain forest: Fourth annual 5K run, walk or job to support the Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, 7:30 a.m. June 29, Manoa Recreation Center. Fishpond tour: Richard Fassler leads a "Tour Of A Hawaiian Ancient Fishpond and Windward Aquaculture Farms," 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m. June 14. Meet in the middle of the parking lot at Temple Valley Shopping Center, across from Valley of the Temples. Look for a white Jeep Cherokee. Wear old shoes and bring a cooler if purchasing ogo. "Na Mea Hawaii Hula Kahiko Series": Traditional hula kahiko with Kumu Hula Moana Dudoit's Molokai halau, noon to 1 p.m. June 14, pa hula site near the Volcano Art Center gallery. Free with park pass or visitor fee. Information at 1-808-967-8222 (Big Island).

"Birds of a Feather": Participants will go on a bird hike and make a bird feeder to take home, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 14, Hawaii Nature Center. Cost: $7. Reservations required. Call 955-0100.

Hawaii Audobon Society: Dr. Alan Ziegler leads a short walk from Barbers Point Deep Draft Harbor to the Ewa Plains limestone sinkholes, to look for fossils of Hawaiian birds, June 14. To carpool, meet at 8 a.m., Punchbowl side of the State Library on King street. Or, meet at 9 a.m. at the harbor on Malakole Road. Bring sunscreen, hat, water and a picnic (optional). Digging tools will be provided. Cost: $2. Reservations: 247-0104.

"Rainbow Aquatics": Two-week 30-minute swim classes, Mondays through Fridays, June 16-27, June 30-July 11 or July 14-25, University of Hawaii-Manoa pool. Cost: $75 per two-week session. Call 395-1857.

Free hike to Diamond Head: Meet the Clean Air Team at the Honolulu Zoo entrance, 9 a.m. Saturdays. Three miles to the top. Call 948-3299.

Honolulu Community Drum Circle: Drummers, percussionists and dancers gather, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Keehi Lagoon Park. Potluck. Call 377-DRUM (377-3786) to confirm location each week.

Honolulu Zoo: Zoo opens at 8 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. General admission $6; $2 with Yum Yum Tree senior card. First Wednesdays feature a botanical tour at 8:45 a.m. for $2 more. Third Wednesdays, tai chi practice begins 8 a.m. Call 971-7174.

Nature Conservancy hikes: Two guided hikes a month to Honouliuli Preserve, home to more than 45 rare native plants and animals. Donation. Call 537-4508.
