Looking for work?
Try Web for leads

You got the grades, you got the scholarship, and last week you got the degree -- so get a job, already.

For those trying to find work, the Web should be one of the first places you stop to look.

Although this site sounds like it is for a monster truck rally, http://www.monsterboard.com/ actually is a clever link to more than 50,000 jobs. It includes a resume-builder and employer profiles. Check out "Jobba-the-Hunt," a specialized search engine to get that first break.

Every week, Hotwired, the online version of Wired magazine, lists three new "Dream Jobs" at http://www.hotwired.com/dreamjobs/. The site includes a bit of gossip about the companies offering the jobs and even lists possible dress codes.

If you want something more conservative, there is always the U.S. government. If you want a job with the feds and you don't care to enlist, go to http://www.usajobs.opm.gov, which is the official site for jobs and employment information provided by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

"Home on the Web" is a weekly Friday feature of the Star-Bulletin.
