Ren Frias and Kevin Kaui took the A-flight title by defeating Randy Kobayashi-Steve Shimoda, 3 and 2, and the team of Pat Oki-Dale Ohama captured B-flight with a 2 and 1 nod over Jon Yamanishi and Mike Mishima.
HALF MARATHON WINNERS: Brian Salter toured the 13.1-mile Windward Half Marathon course in one hour, 12 minutes and 28 seconds to win the men's open division yesterday. Chris Crawford was runner-up in 1:13:57.
In the women's division, Mary Parker's 1:25:24 was slightly better than a minute ahead of runner-up Rachel Portner (1:26:32).
In the companion five-kilometer event, Matthew Holton won the men's race in 16:16 and Candas Smiley captured the women's race in 19:52.
HAT TRICK FOR SLATER: At Ikumi Beach, Japan, Kelly Slater won his third 1997 Coca-Cola/ASP World Championship Tour surfing event yesterday, defeating Mark Occhilupo, 27.55-26.15, to finish first in the Tokushima Pro.
GAMES DEADLINE: The deadline to register for participation in the Aloha State Games is Friday. The booklets with information on each event, the coordinator's telephone number, etc., are available at all 7-Eleven stores.
STATE TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS: The USA Track & Field State Championships will be held May 31 and June 1 at the University of Hawaii's Cooke Field.
The May 31 events start with the racewalk at 6:30 a.m. followed by registration at 7:30.
The field events are scheduled for June 1 beginning at 8 a.m.

KAANAPALI CITED: The Kaanapali Golf Courses have been rated one of the most women-friendly facilities in North America, making Golf for Women's Magazine's Top Fairways list.
That means the facility's overall atmosphere, programs, locker room, pro shop and amenities best met women's golf needs.
Some 1,500 courses were polled.
