Zagreb, Croatia -- President Franjo Tudjman celebrates 75th birthday.

Male, Maldives -- Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan meet for first formal talks in four years to talk of improving relations.

Washington -- Supreme Court issues orders and decisions.

Los Angeles -- Sentencing for former Compton councilwoman Patricia Moore, who was captured on videotape taking thousands of dollars in bribes.

Los Angeles -- Hearing in the Billy Bob Thornton divorce proceeding.

Yorba Linda, Calif. -- Betty Ford makes relatively rare public appearance at the Nixon Library, speaking and taking questions about her White House days, drug addiction and breast cancer.

Oakland, Calif. -- Decision due in motion to dismiss drug charges against Cannabis Buyer's Club founder Dennis Peron.

Trenton, N.J. -- Testimony resumes in trial of Jesse Timmendequas, charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and murder of 7-year-old Megan Kanka.

Camden, N.J. -- Closing arguments and an address to the court by the defendant are scheduled in the death penalty trial of Leslie Ann Nelson, a transsexual who pleaded guilty to killing two law enforcement officers.

Montgomery, Ala. -- Alabama parole board holds a hearing on former Gov. Guy Hunt's request for a pardon based on a finding of innocence. Hunt was expelled from office in 1993 on an ethics conviction.

Fort McClellan, Ala. -- Beginning of court-martial for Army Staff Sgt. Matthew T. Griffin, accused of sodomy and adultery involving one woman and harassment and having improper social relationships with two trainees.

Greenville, Ala. -- Start of trial for Kim Gonzalez, charged with capital murder in the death of her 5-year-old stepdaughter, whose body has never been found.

Paris -- Inauguration of House of Culture of Japan in presence of Princess Nori.

Bucharest, Romania -- Lebanese foreign minister Fares Boueiz arrives for two-day visit.

Imola, Italy -- Senna trial resumes. Through May 14.

Jakarta, Indonesia -- Verdict expected in murder trial of Indonesian businessman Harnoko Dewantono accused of killing three in Los Angeles.

Camden and Jersey City, N.J. -- Nonpartisan mayoral elections.

San Francisco -- Start of three toll-free days on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridge, courtesy of a radio stunt gone wrong.

Sacramento, Calif. -- Prisoners Rights Union holds demonstration.

Los Angeles -- Sentencing for Snoop Doggy Dogg's bodyguard, convicted of stalking a former girlfriend.

Albany, N.Y. -- The Gay Men's Health Crisis holds a news conference on Gov. Pataki's welfare reform plan and its impact on people with AIDS.

Huntsville, Texas -- Scheduled execution for Anthony Westley for the April 1984 fatal shooting of Chester Howard during robbery of a bait shop.

Albuquerque, N.M. -- Special election to replace Democrat U.S. Rep. Bill Richardson, who resigned to become U.N. ambassador.

New York -- Auction of works by Edgar Degas and Amedeo Modigliani.

Phoenix -- Trial begins for Gov. Fife Symington, facing 22 federal felony counts of lying to financial instituions, attempted extortion and fraud.

WEDNESDAY, May 14:

Paris -- President Jacques Chirac begins trip to China and Hong Kong. Through May 20.

New York -- National Father's Day Committee presents 62nd Annual Father of the Year Awards.

San Diego -- Pastors for Peace tries to send more computers to Cuba.

THURSDAY, May 15:

Paris -- French Finance Ministry employees strike against plans to cut 1,400 jobs out of the 180,000-member work force.

New Delhi, India -- Deadline for Judge R.C. Lahoti to release findings of his investigation into Nov. 12, 1996 midair collision.

Manassas, Va. -- Sentencing for Eugene Bennett, convicted in February of trying to kill his estranged wife, making bomb threats and taking her minister hostage.

Decherd, Tenn. -- Dedication of Nissan's new engine plant.

Cape Canaveral, Fla. -- Sheduled liftoff of space shuttle on mission to Russian space station Mir.

Malibu, Calif. -- Pretrial hearing for actor Charlie Sheen, charged with battery against a girlfriend.

Santa Monica, Calif. -- So-called "debtor examination" hearing in the Simpson civil case.

FRIDAY, May 16:

Stockholm, Sweden -- Opening of three-month exhibition on 'Creative Man.' Through Aug. 17

Salem, Ore. -- Harry Charles Moore to be executed for gunning down his in-laws.

Appleton, Wis. -- Court appearance for 17-year-old boy accused of defecation on an American flag.

Nashville, Tenn. -- State Board of Medical Examiners will reconsider restrictions on distribution of prescription diet drug phen-fen, the drug blamed for killing a Massachusetts woman in February. Tennessee is the only state which outlaws the prescribing of the drug.

San Francisco -- Opening of 1997 International Conference of the American Thoracic Society. Through May 21.

Huntsville, Texas -- Scheduled execution of Clifton Belyeu for the December 1985 fatal shooting and stabbing of Melodie Bolton during a burglary.

Jefferson City, Mo. -- Missouri Legislature adjourns.

Florence, Ariz. -- Clemency hearing for Ramon Martinez Villareal, Mexican national convicted of killing two ranch hands in 1982. His execution is scheduled for May 21.

Santa Ana, Calif. -- Arraignment of Dr. Sergio Stone in the UC Irvine fertility fraud case.

SATURDAY, May 17:

San Diego -- American Psychiatric Association's 150th annual meeting.

Waco, Texas -- Four identical sisters receive diplomas during commencement exercises at Baylor University.
