SATURDAY

"Bishop Museum Day": Preview the museum's summer exhibit "Ocean Planet," 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Borders, Ward Centre. Scientists from the museum will share information and display specimens from the museum's collections. Free. Call 591-8995.

Flashlight tour: Find out what fishes do at night, 7 to 9 p.m., Waikiki Aquarium. Children must be at least 5-years-old and accompanied by an adult. Cost: $7 adult, $6 children. Register by mail. Call 923-9741.

Story time: Bruce Hale, author of "Moki the Gecko" books, is the guest reader, 10:30 a.m., Hawaii State Library. Call 586-3510.



SUNDAY

Hike: Hikers 4- to 6-years-old can explore lo'i kalo, 9 to 11 a.m., Hawaii Nature Center. Cost: $7. Reservations required. Call 955-0100.

Children's Day festival: Families can enjoy a day of Japanese craft-making, storytelling, folk art and craft demonstrations, and entertainment by Kenny Endo, George Kuo, Keith Cockett and the Aiea Matsubayashi-ryu Karate Dojo and Ki Aikido, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., McCoy Pavilion in Ala Moana Park.



TUESDAY

Zoo by Moonlight: The Honolulu Zoo opens for tours when the moon is full, 7 to 9 p.m. May 20-23. Tickets: $5-$7. Purchase tickets in advance at cashier's office. Call 971-7195.



SPECIAL

Coloring contest: Create an ocean theme drawing and turn it in to any Daiei store May 18-June 14, and become eligible to win an Oscar Mayer Wagon and a Bishop Museum Family Membership pass (one grandprize winner per store). There also will be weekly winners and every keiki entering will receive an Oscar Mayer Wiener whistle. Open to ages 12 and under. Call 847-3511.

Learn to swim: Children ages 4-14 can learn how to swim in American Red Cross' annual program. The free program will be held from 8:45 to 10 a.m. Saturdays, May 24 through July 26, Ala Moana Beach Park, lifeguard stand 1E, next to the Magic Island parking lot. Call 739-8108.

"Musical Experience" workshop: Children 9 through 13 can learn to act, sing and dance this summer. Sheilah Sealey, who has a bachelor's degree in musical theatre and a master's degree in acting, will lead the workshop with Nanilisa Pascua, music director. Children will also learn the history of musical theatre and get an insight into the development of a musical play. Classes 8 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Fridays, June 9 through Aug.1. Cost: $550.
