








The University of Hawaii President's Scholar-Athlete Breakfast will be held Thursday at 7:30 a.m. in the Special Events Arena. Rainbows top student-
athletes to be honoredThe annual breakfast recognizes UH athletes from the 1996-97 academic year who have maintained a 3.00 or higher cumulative grade point average.
There are 16 sports programs plus cheerleading , with approximately 350 participants on the Manoa campus.
The top scholar-athlete for each program: Lars Hansen (baseball), Eric Ambrozich (men's basketball), Michelle Macintyre (women's basketball), Neal Yasami (cheerleading), Rachel Leber (women's cross country), Chris Shinnick (football), Chad Burrows (men's golf), Jolene Furuto (women's golf), Rachel Haynes (sailing), Nichole Arakawa (women's soccer), Christine Viernes (women's softball), Jonas Brodin (men's swimming and diving), Dorothy So and Meghan Atwood (women's swimming and diving), Alex Sugai (men's tennis), Michelle Radman (women's tennis), Sivan Leoni (men's volleyball), Angelica Ljungquist (women's volleyball).
WRONG MESSAGE: The message on the Mid Pacific Road Runners hot line listed Sunday as the day the Schofield-Wheeler Trail's End 10K race would be held.

IRONMAN LOTTERY: Richard Baldwin, 41, of Ewa Beach; Steven Foster, 41, of Ewa Beach; Carol Jaxon, 32, of Honolulu; Thomas McElligott, 34, of Honolulu; Jackie Gesswein, 29, of Honolulu; Carl Osaki, 37, of Kailua, and Vernon Ramos, 51, of Wahiawa, are seven of 150 athletes nationwide who have been selected to participate in the Ironman Triathlon.
About 3,000 athletes enter the lottery each year.
The 2.4-mile ocean swim, 112-mile bike race and 26.2-mile run is Oct. 18 in Kailua-Kona.
