After 35 years at Hawaii National Bank, Ernest Murata has been promoted to senior executive vice president as the bank is expanding. He will continue his administrative duties, including cashier and chief financial officer.

"We will be opening our Pearl City branch (the 13th branch) next month in the Times Shopping Center," Murata said. "We don't want to stop there."

Murata has served as director and treasurer of the American Red Cross, Hawaii chapter; director of the Arthritis Foundation; and director, Consumer Credit Consulting Services. He also has been president of the Hawaii chapter, American Institute of Banking; president and state director, Hawaii chapter, Bank Administration Institute; and director, Hawaii Investors for Affordable Housing.

He got a bachelor's degree in business administration at Notre Dame University.
