The Brigham Young University-Hawaii women's tennis team is ranked No. 1 in the first NAIA poll of the season, while the Seasiders' men team are No. 10 and Hawaii Pacific men 19th. BYU-Hawaii ranked No. 1
The BYUH women (25-0) feature four singles players rated among the NAIA's Top 20 -- Karin Ptaszek (4), Teresa Stromberg (5), Paiao Short (9) and Yu-Hsien Liu (20). Two of the doubles teams are also ranked -- Anneli Ornstedt and Stromberg No. 3 and Ptaszek-Short tied for eighth.
The Seasiders' men team have three singles players in the top 25: Anirban Barush (10), Wei-Yu Su (12) and Toshi Matsui (25). Su and Matsui are No. 9 in the doubles rankings while Matt Griffin and Todd Hooper are 25th.
HPU's Eric Sandblom is 35th in singles and, with Johan Sandblom, comprise the 17th-ranked doubles team.
IOLANI MOVES UP: Iolani moved up four spots in this week's Baseball America Top 25 high school poll.
The Raiders jumped to the 14th spot in the poll released yesterday.
