CONTINUING

Absolute Power

Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this total bore of a film about a thief who witnesses a murder, then finds himself in the middle of a big time presidential cover-up. (R) At Kahala

B.A.P.S.

Halle Berry and Natalie Deselle play best-friends from Georgia who head to Beverly Hills in hopes of landing a role in a music video. Far-fetched plotting and awful sentimentality prevail. (PG-13) At Kapolei, Pearl West, Restaurant Row

Booty Call

This paean to safe sex is an oddly effective comic mix of the politically correct and outre stereotyping. But there's an underlying sweetness to the material. (R) At Pearl West

Cats Don't Dance

This animated film looks great and features a jazzy Randy Newman score, but its story seems tailor-made for old-movie buffs, not children (G) At Kahala, Kapolei, Keolu, Laie, Pearl West

The Devil's Own

Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford star in this drama exploring the differences between an IRA supporter (Pitt) and the New York cop (Ford) whose home life he shatters. (R) At Kapolei, Keolu, Mililani, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row, Waikiki 3

Donnie Brasco

Al Pacino's low-level hit man recruits a promising young thief (Johnny Depp) who is an agent for the FBI. The two stars do a great job complementing each other's performance. (R) At Kahala, Kapolei, Nanakuli, Pearl West

The English Patient

This adaptation of Michael Ondaatje's romantic novel of wartime passion won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Juliette Binoche), Best Director (Anthony Minghella), Art Direction. Cinematography, Sound, Original Dramatic Score, Costume and Editing. (R) At Kailua, Kapolei, Restaurant Row, Varsity

Fools Rush In

Salma Hayek and Matthew Perry star in a romantic comedy as a Mexican spitfire and Connecticut WASP who impetuously elope. Hayek turns what should be awful into entertainment with a vibrant, forthright portrayal. (PG-13) At Kahala, Kam Drive-In, Laie

Jerry Maguire

A modern morality play in which Tom Cruise plays a sports agent who dishonors himself by being honest. Supporting actor Cuba Gooding's performance brought him an Oscar win. (R) At Kahala

Jungle 2 Jungle

The latest in a slew of lame French comedies remade by American studios is a rote fish-out-of-water story about a commodities trader who brings his Amazonian forest-raised son back to New York. (PG) At Kahala, Kailua, Kapolei, Pearlridge

Liar Liar

Jim Carrey plays a scummy lawyer forced to tell the truth for 24 hours. As usual, Carrey and his facial and bodily contortions make up the whole show. (PG-13) At Aikahi, Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Laie, Mililani, Pearl West, Restaurant Row, Waikiki 2

Return of the Jedi

The last part of the "Star Wars" trilogy wraps up the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo in their fight against the evil Empire. (PG) At Kapolei, Pearl West, Waikiki 1

Selena

This old-fashioned biopic traces the rise to fame of the late Tejano music queen, Selena Quintanilla Perez, and her tragic shooting . (PG) At Cinerama, Kam Drive-In, Kapolei, Keolu, Pearlridge, Restaurant Row

The Sixth Man

Silly but well-executed basketball comedy features Kadeem Hardison as a young basketball star who returns as a ghost after his death to help brother Marlon Wayans to a championship. (PG-13) At Kapolei, Pearl West, Restaurant Row

Sling Blade

This modern masterpiece of Southern Gothic stages a battle between good and evil. Director/actor Billy Bob Thornton received an Oscar for the screenplay. (R) At Kapolei, Koko Marina

Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie

The Rangers respond when space pirate Divatox attempts to free a legendary monster. (PG) At Kahala, Kapolei, Keolu, Mililani, Nanakuli, Pearl West, Restaurant Row
