April Foolish Day Party: 6 to 11 p.m. April 4, Falls of Cylde, Pier 7. Hosted by "The Boys Bunch," proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hawaii. The "Beat Poets" will provide the entertainment and there will be door prizes including five outer-island trips. Nautical attire preferred. Parking available at Aloha Tower Marketplace locations. No heeled shoes or smoking is allowed on board. Cost (includes one drink and pupus): $20 advance; $25 at-the-door. Tickets at 537-3118.

World Fest '97: Cultural celebration through displays, food, performances, silent auction and crafts, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 5, Mid-Pacific Institute. Entertainers include Charo, Frank DeLima, Kapena, Tihati's Polynesian Revue, Sou'd Out, Chinese Lion Dancers and Kenny Endo's Taiko Drums. Silent auction consists of more than 100 items including a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL. All proceeds go to the school's student activities fund. Call 973-5022.

Race Against Violence: 3.1 mile race/walk sponsored by Faerber's Flyers Women's Running Club, and St. Francis and Kapiolani medical centers, 7 a.m. April 20, Manoa Recreation Center. Proceeds will go to the Kapiolani Sex Abuse Treatment Center and Family Peace Center, and the University of Hawaii Women's Cross Country Team. Awards will also be given to the top three male and female race walkers, wheelchair contestants or strollers. Entry fee: $18 which includes a T-shirt, refreshments and door prizes. Group rate: $14 per person for groups of 6 or more. Entry forms must be post-marked by April 5 to get a T-shirt. Entry fee of $10 will be accepted until 6:45 a.m. April 20 but no T-shirt will be given. Pick up forms at running stores, fitness centers and military outlet locations, or call 941-4160.

Spring celebration: Spaghetti dinner, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 11, Moiliili Community Center, 2535 S. King St. Activities include a bake and plant sale, and entertainment by ELVIS. Proceeds will go toward the Senior Center, Elder Care and Children/Family programs. Tickets: $5. Call 955-1555.

Country-western dance: 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. April 12, St. Anthony's Church Hall, Kailua. Music by DJ Brian Young. Bring pupus and drinks. Cost: $5. Proceeds go toward the Outreach Program. Call 262-7441.

Allegro Concert Orchestra: First benefit concert, 4 to 7 p.m. April 13, Indigo Eurasian Cuisine, 1121 Nuuanu Ave. There will be an auction and performances by the Allegro Concert Orchestra, and comedians Ray Bumatai and Eden-Lee Murray. Many auction items including certificates from Bridal Emporium, Tuxedo Junction, Rocky's Limousine, Roy's, Sam Choy's and Keo's, and tickets to the Allegro Concerts and the Honolulu Symphony. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Cost: $100 (tax deductible). Reservations at 955-3439.

"Child's Play": 13th annual golf tournament, noon April 17 at the Sheraton Makaha Golf Club, West Course. A foursome scramble format will be used. Prizes will be awarded for hole-in-one, closest to the pin and longest drive contests. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Pupu buffet, awards program and auction to follow. Cost: $160 per player. Hole sponsorships: $2,000 (includes a round of golf for a foursome). Limited to the first 160 golfers. Proceeds go toward the Child and Family Service programs. Call 543-8464.

"An Evening of Mystery": Who killed wealthy local importer/exporter Maximillian Rich? Help solve the crime, 6 p.m. May 3, Hawaii Theatre. Actors include Devon Guard, Matthew Pedersen, Beth Ann Kozlovich, Louis Xigogianis, Mark Lloyd, Cassandra Harrell, Veronica Kelly, Mike Humelrickhouse, Don Nahaku, Laurence Paxton, Glenn Cannon, Richard Pellett, Tina Shelton, Antoni Luke and Jeff Kurtzman. Emcees are Vince Gerasole and Heidi Umbhau. There also will be an auction and presentation of Alfred Hitchcock's film clips. Tickets: $150 per person to $10,000 for "patron boxes" for 10 people (includes cocktails and dinner). Limited seating. Reservation deadline: April 18. Call 528-5535. Cruise-N-Show: The Aloha Mustang and Shelby Club of Hawaii will present awards to the best cars/trucks in the following categories: classic, hot rod, late model (1974 to 1997), import, rod, truck, modified truck, 4X4, paint, engine, rumble (idle plus 3 short revs), modified late model, modified import, sports car, and best of show. Participants are asked to bring donations for the Hawaii Food Bank. Meet at 10 a.m. April 19 in the parking lot behind Windward Ford in Kailua. Judging and lunch (bring your own) will begin at 11 a.m. At 12:30 p.m. caravan will head for Restaurant Row via Pali then head for the food bank drop-off site. May Day & Mother's Day celebrations fair: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 and May 1, and 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 30.

Fashion fantasy: Japanese Women's Society annual fashion show features Nobuyoshi Koba, internationally known beauty expert from Japan, 1 p.m. May 4, Sheraton Hotel ballroom. The boutique opens at 9 a.m.; ballroom doors open at 11:15 a.m.; and luncheon 11:45 a.m. Proceeds go to the Care Home for the Elderly, Hale Pulama Mau, Kuakini Foundation and the JWS Gerontology Scholarship Fund. Hotel charity walk: 19th Annual Hawaii Hotel Association Visitor Industry Charity Walk, May 17. Walkers will meet at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park and walk through Waikiki, Kapiolani Park and by the Ala Wai Canal, ending at Ala Moana Beach Park. There will be 14 checkpoints with food and entertainment. Pledge forms available beginning March 11.
