Two Sumotori from
Hawaii among leaders

OSAKA, Japan - Wakanohana, seeking promotion to sumo's highest rank, twisted down Kyokushuzan of Mongolia today for his third victory against no defeats in the 15-day Spring Grand Sumo Tournament.

Grand champions Takanohana and Akebono, champions Musashimaru and Takanonami and senior wrestler Kaio also remained undefeated.

Wakanohana won the previous tournament in January and could be promoted to yokozuna if he wins his second consecutive tournament, or reaches at least a 14-1 record this time.

Takanohana sent down Tochiazuma and Akebono, or Chad Rowan from Hawaii, held off Kotonishiki. Musashimaru, or Fiamalu Penitani from Hawaii, forced out Terao.

Takanonami drove out Tosanoumi and Kaio forced out Kotoryu. Yamato, or George Kalima from Hawaii, improved to 2-1 by trusting out Asanowaka.

Konishiki, or Alevaa Atisanoe from Hawaii, who missed the tournament's first two days because of flu, was pulled down by Kitakachidoki.
