Hula Bowl
TV rating acceptable

The Hooters Hula Bowl finished in a virtual tie with the other two college all-star games in the national television ratings.

Chief executive officer Lenny Klompus said yesterday that his game did a 1.9 on ESPN, which translates to about 1.5 million homes. The Senior Bowl did a 1.9 on TNT and the East-West Shrine had a 1.8 on ESPN.

"It's about the same as last year," Klompus said. "We were hoping to crack a 2 rating, but everybody is happy with the number."



BOWS PICKED THIRD

The University of Hawaii baseball team has been picked to finish third by a vote of Western Athletic Conference head coaches in the four-team West Division.

Fresno State was the choice to win the West, Rice was tabbed to take the South and Brigham Young was tops in the North.



SOFTBALL SCRIMMAGES

The University of Hawaii Wahine softball team will host Hawaii Pacific tomorrow and Chaminade Sunday in scrimmages at 5 p.m. at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Field.



SAILING AT KEEHI

The University of Hawaii sailing team will host No. 7 Stanford and No. 11 UC Irvine in an Invitational Regatta tomorrow and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Keehi Lagoon. The Rainbows were ranked No. 4 by Sailing World Magazine as of Jan. 14.
