MONDAY: National Association of Realtors releases December existing home sales. 10 a.m.

TUESDAY: Labor Department releases 4th quarter employment cost index. 8:30 a.m.; Commerce Department releases 3rd-quarter state personal income. Time uncertain.

WEDNESDAY: Commerce releases December durable goods. 8:30 a.m.

THURSDAY: Labor releases weekly jobless claims. 8:30 a.m.

FRIDAY: Commerce releases 4th quarter GDP. 8:30 a.m.; Commerce releases new home sales report for December. 10 a.m.

SUNDAY, Jan. 26:

Frankfurt, Germany - Opening of the exhibit "Photographs of Polish Jews before the Holocaust," consisting of personal photographs sent in by Poles throughout the country. At Frankfurt Jewish Museum. Through June 15.

Rome - Women's ready-to-wear fashion shows. Through Jan. 29.

New Orleans - Super Bowl XXXI.

MONDAY, Jan. 27:

Pretoria, South Africa - Trial resumes for confessed serial killer Moses Sithole.

Johannesburg, South Africa - Court appearances by three white extremists who escaped jail last year and were convicted in absentia of 1994 bombings that killed 21 people.

Bucharest, Romania - British Foreign Secretary Malcolm Rifkind arrives in Romania for two-day of talks on NATO and EU integration.

Stockholm, Sweden - Government investigator presents report on insurance compensation for survivors and relatives of victims of Estonia sinking.

Washington - Supreme Court in recess until Feb. 18

Washington - Senate in session; House in recess until Feb. 4

Santa Monica, Calif. - Defense in O.J. Simpson wrongful-death case to conclude summations, plaintiffs to offer rebuttal, jury to receive instructions.

Los Angeles - 24th annual American Music Awards at Shrine auditorium.

Fort Myers, Fla. - Trial for two men in murder of German vacationer.

Jefferson City, Mo. - Oral arguments Missouri Supreme Court on three sex-abuse cases allegedly involving Catholic priests.

Manassas, Va. - Trial begins for former FBI agent Eugene Bennett, accused of abduction and attempted murder.

TUESDAY, Jan. 28:

Duesseldorf, Germany - Retrial continues for former East German spymaster Markus Wolf on charges including bribery, kidnapping and coercion.

Nancy, France - Appeals court rules on influence-peddling case involving former Lyon mayor and leading TV anchor.

Singapore - Forum on political change in Indonesia.

Sofia, Bulgaria - British Foreign Secretary Malcolm Rifkind arrives for visit. Through Jan. 29.

Sofia, Bulgaria - Bulgaria's new president, Petar Stoyanov, leaves for Brussels on his first official trip abroad.

Lyon, France - Golden Bocuse haute cuisine competition. Through Jan. 29.

Bonn, Germany - Germany marks 100th birthday of Ludwig Erhard, architect of the "economic miracle" that rebuilt West Germany from the ruins of World War II.

Johannesburg, South Africa - Transport Minister Mac Maharaj addresses news conference on high accident rate.

Washington - Senate in session.

Santa Monica, Calif. - Planetary Society holds meeting on mobile planetary robots for exploration of Mars and other surfaces.

Los Angeles - Hearing in slander lawsuit against Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss.

Potosi, Mo. - Execution scheduled for Eric Schneider, convicted in killing of two St. Louis teachers in 1985.

Raleigh, N.C. - North Carolina General Assembly opens.

Arlington, Va. - Lunch and hardhat site tour of the Newseum, the Freedom Forum museum of the news business, which opens in April.

THURSDAY, Jan. 30:

Paris - Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma pays first official visit to France. Through Jan. 31.

Davos, Switzerland - Annual meeting of the World Economic Forum of government and business leaders. Through Feb 4.

Washington - Senate in session.

Raleigh, N.C. - Testimony expected to begin in federal trial of a Freemen leader and supporter charged with fraud, intimidating federal agents and other crimes.

FRIDAY, Jan. 31:

Paris - 20th anniversary of Pompidou Center museum.

Grand Canyon National Park, Ariz. - National Park Service hosts demonstration of light-rail and bus transportation options being considered for the park.

Cleveland - Cleveland Indians pitcher Jose Mesa is arraigned on rape and other charges.

Houston - Johnson Space Center briefings for upcoming shuttle mission, scheduled for Feb. 11 launch.

SATURDAY, Feb. 1:

Empangeni, South Africa - Bantu Holomisa, a former ANC leader who was expelled from the party, addresses a rally in KwaZulu-Natal province on possibility of setting up a new political party.

New Zealand - Speaking tour by Nobel Peace Prize co-winner Jose Ramos Horta, in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. Through Feb. 3.
