Punt, Pass & Kick
set for Cooke Field

The NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass & Kick competition will be held Saturday at the University of Hawaii's Cooke Field from 8 a.m. to noon.

The competition is free for boys and girls, ages 8 to 15. Age classification is as of Dec. 31, 1996 and proof of age is required to register.

Entry forms are available at all Sears stores.

The top finishers from each of the eight age groups will advance to the Hawaii State Championships, Feb. 2, during the Pro Bowl pre-game show at Aloha Stadium.



VULCANS SPLIT

At Kailua-Kona, the University of Hawaii at Hilo collected 10 hits en route to a 12-6 victory over Pacific in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader at Simmon's Field yesterday.

Pacific scored a run on a two-out single in the final inning of the second game for a 3-2 victory.

The Tigers (4-2) took the season-opening series.

The Vulcans (2-4) begin a series with Sonoma State (Calif.) tomorrow with a 4:30 p.m. doubleheader at Francis Wong Stadium.



BASEBALL GAME CANCELED

The scheduled nonconference baseball game between Houston Baptist and Hawaii Pacific at Hans L'Orange Park last night was canceled due to rain.



JUNIOR NOVICE TENNIS

A Junior Novice Tennis Tournament (ages 10-18), open to the public, will be held Feb. 1-2 at the Pearl Harbor Racquet Club.

The fees are $14 (singles), $18 (doubles). The entry deadline is Friday. For information, call 471-0610.
