How to take Internet to heart

Do your heart some good and get on the Web.

Specifically, beat a path to http://www.americanheart.org where you will find a vast network of 1,650 heart-related Web pages sponsored by the American Heart Association.

You can pump up your stack of New Year's resolutions by vowing to take better care of your heart.

First step in improving your circulation is to take the interactive quiz that will assess your own risk of having a heart attack in the next 10 years.

The heart association page doesn't stop there. It also gives you a list of ways to improve your chances of making it through the decade and offers a guide to heart problems and stroke.

For children and teachers, the home activities section has stories and games and articles on the importance of not smoking, good eating and how the heart works.

Later this year the heart association promises even more will be flowing into the site with an interactive assessment of your chances of having a stroke.
