Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden: Learn about rain forest plants 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays. Free. Bring walking shoes, bug repellent, rain gear and a picnic. Call 233-7323 for reservations.

Halawa Xeriscape Garden: Free admission to garden of dryland plants at Halawa Industrial Park 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Wednesdays. Guided tours are free on Thursdays and the last Saturday of each month; call 527-6113 for an appointment.

Hawaii Ghost Tours: See haunted spots on a three-hour bus tour 6:30 p.m. Saturdays. Narrated tour includes stops at cemeteries, hotels, an ancient temple, the Royal Mausoleum and the Pali Lookout. Costs $22. Call 596-2052.

Hawaiian Railway: Train departs for 90-minute ride through Ewa 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sundays from 91-1001 Renton Road. Passengers should arrive a half hour before departure time. Costs $8 general, $5 seniors and children. Reserve at 681-5461.

Urban Garden Center: 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, 962 Second St., Pearl City. Call 453-6050. Gardens at the educational center also open on the first Saturday of each month.
