Richard A. Greene, 58 of Hoffman Estates, Ill., formerly of Honolulu, died Nov. 22 in Barrington, Ill.He was a lecturer in Greek and Latin at the University of Hawaii from 1968 to 1970 and made news across the country in 1968 when he won the Republican primary election for Washington state land commissioner, while living in Honolulu.
He later moved to Seattle where he became a railroad engineer.
He is survived by sister Elizabeth Rodosky, brothers Carson and Stuart Greene, six nieces and nephews, and Honolulu friends Donna and John de Haan.
