School-produced cookbooks available for holiday gift-giving, are:

Another Taste of PEACHES (Pearl City Highlands Elementary School): Produced by the school staff and illustrated by students. The $10 cookbook may be purchased at the school or can be mailed to you for $2 extra to cover postage. Make checks payable to Pearl City Highlands Elementary School, 1419 Waimano Home Road, Pearl City, HI 96782. Call 453-6470 for more information.

Highlands Ohana Cookbook: Produced by the Highlands Intermediate School Technology Project, with 250 recipes. The $10 cookbook can be purchased at the school library between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., or call 453-6452 or 453-6499. The school is at 1460 Hoolaulea St., Pearl City, HI 96782.

Renaissance of Recipes: A Cookbook of Island Favorites: Compiled by Iao Intermediate School, with 181 recipes. To order by mail send a check for $12 to Renaissance of Recipes Cookbook, Iao Intermediate School, 1910 Kaohu St., Wailuku, HI 96793.

Funds raised by "Renaissance of Recipes" will help fund incentives for students in the Renaissance Ke 'Ala Hou Educational Foundation, a school-community program which rewards good students with discounts at some 80 local businesses and end-of-quarter activities and excursions.

Ka Mea 'Ai 'Ono Loa: Delicious Foods from the Honolulu Waldorf School: Offers 400 recipes from around the world, illustrated with pen and ink sketches by Waldorf teacher/artist Frances Altwies, plus full color paintings and drawings by students. The cookbooks are $20 and can be purchased at the school, 350 Ulua St. in Niu Valley, or call 373-3919.



Recipes sought

Castle Performing Arts Center is asking for recipes for its "Friends and Celebrities Cookbook II."

Send two favorite recipes by Jan. 15 to:CPAC Cookbook II, c/o Grace Hu, 1032 Maunawili Road, Kailua, HI 96734.

Specify whether your recipe is a salad, pupu, dessert, soup, main dish, bread or vegetable, and tell whether you are an alumni, parent, staff or supporter of CPAC.

Funds raised will help send the CPAC's spring production of "South Pacific" to the International Thespian Society's conference in Lincoln, Neb., next summer. The cost of the trip is estimated at $100,000.
