British Open champion Tom Lehman, the PGA Tour's top money winner, will play in the 1997 United Airlines Hawaiian Open and the Johnny Bellinger Shoot-Out at the Waialae Country Club next February. LEHMAN IN HAWAIIAN OPEN,
SHOOT-OUTTournament chairman Bill Thompson said that Lehman, who won the MasterCard PGA Grand Slam on Kauai earlier this month, will be joined in the Shoot-out and 32nd annual tournament by David Ishii, Scott Simpson and defending champion Jim Furyk.
The Shoot-out will be held Feb. 11, while the 72-hole Hawaiian Open, with its $216,000 first prize, is scheduled for Feb. 13-16.

Hui O He'e Nalu, the largest surfing club in Hawaii, will conduct a big wave power surfing contest to be held at "Back Door" Pipeline, Dec. 21 to Jan. 3. BIG WAVE CONTEST SCHEDULED
Challenging the wave at Back Door Pipeline will be an elite group of 40 surfers. The winner will take home $35,000 from the $100,000 purse.
Using a no elimination format, surfers will compete in heats ranging from a half hour to one hour depending on the wave's quality and quantity.
