Kanagawa University Symphonic Band: Award-winning 60-member band from Japan performs noon Friday at the Campus Center Ballroom, University of Hawaii-Manoa, and 2 p.m. Sunday at Ala Moana Centerstage.

Free concert: The Northwest Airlines All-Star Band, featuring Felix Cavaliere, Lou Gramm and Billy Preston, performs 4 p.m. Friday at Fort DeRussy Beach, Waikiki. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots program for underprivileged children. Enter from Kalia Road; park at the Hilton Hawaiian Village or the entrance to Fort DeRussy.

Honolulu Symphony: “The Magic of the Flute” with host Joe Moore and Ransom Wilson as guest conductor and soloist, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Hawaii Theatre. Program includes Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto No. 3, “The Goldfinch”; Dieter’s Concerto for Two Flutes; Beethoven’s “Coriolan” overture; and Mozart’s “La Betulia Liberata,” K. 118, and Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter,” K. 551.
