A Hawaii investor group headed by businessman Tom Enomoto has bought the Azeka Place Shopping Centers in Kihei, Maui, for an undisclosed price. The deal closed Friday. Isle investors buy Kihei
shopping centerOperating as a new company, Azeka Place Shopping Centers Inc., the investors bought the old center that grew from a single grocery store opened in 1950 by Bill and Jane Azeka as well as a second phase developed more recently.
The centers have a total of 130,000 square feet of leaseable area and 50 tenants, including Liberty House, Bank of Hawaii, Ace Hardware and several restaurants. The Azeka family will continue to operate its kitchen serving the famous Azeka ribs and other local favorites.

junk e-mailAOL had blocked five online sites which served as clearinghouses for unsolicited, commercial mailings. The sites were sending 1.8 million e-mails a day to America Online subscribers, causing a flood of complaints.
A Philadelphia company that sends promotions on behalf of businesses, Cyber Promotions Inc., controls three of the five sites and took AOL to court.
U.S. District Judge Charles Weiner ruled yesterday that Cyber Promotions has no First Amendment right to deluge AOL subscribers with e-mail ads. AOL is a private company and its e-mail computers are not public forums "in which Cyber has a right to speak," the judge said.
