Defending event champion Sunny Garcia heads a strong Hawaii contingent that includes John Shimooka, Larry Rios and former world champ Derek Ho. In the women's division, reigning tour champion Alisa Schwarzstein goes up against defending event champion Megan Abubo and No. 6-ranked Rochelle Ballard, both of Hawaii.
Also on tap is the Morey Bodyboards National Tour stop. Among the top Hawaii competitors is current points leader Spencer Skipper, Mike Stewart, Ben Severson, Kyle Maligro and Kainoa McGee.
Trials will be held daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. off the Turtle Bay Hilton. The finals are set for Makaha Beach on Nov. 2.
