Tracking Insiders

Experts say that investors may get some clues about where a company is headed by watching trading activity

Boy, if you only knew what corporate insiders knew, you could make a killing on a stock, right? Well, it's not quite that easy.

The common wisdom is that tracking the trading activity of corporate insiders - a company's board of directors, officers and large shareholders - will give you insight into the future direction of the stock. Sadly, though, there isn't an insider's newsletter out there in which company executives bare their souls and offer any real insider information.

Experts say investors can get help from a couple sources, though. For more on where to look for information on insider trading activities, read the Money Monday section of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
